No. MLB 12 The Show is a representation of the previous year of baseball. That would mean it's designed based on the 2011 baseball year. You won't see this update to the Playoff Wild Card system until MLB 13 The Show.

That's kind of stupid if you ask me. If it's a representation of the 2011 season, then they should get everyone's batting stance correct, and their windups. Verlander doesn't take that long on the mound. Josh Hamilton doesn't have his bat that way. If you ask me, this is a representation of a sloppy job. The least they could do, is add that second spot.

Then shouldn't the all star game be in Phoenix and not KC?

It is pretty pathetic considering when you play franchise mode or RTTS, it starts out on the 2012 season, which is obvious. Why then, would you not implement a new feature of the 2012 season? If MLB 12 was a representation of the 2011 season, why does it take place in 2012, have 2012 rosters, and have the ASG in KC? Oh yeah, it's also called MLB TWELVE.

How about everyone stop arguing over trivial nonsense. MLB12 is based on the MLB for 2012 the problem that came up here is that Bud Selig in all his wisdom decided after the fact to add the extra wild card game this year, it was already planned for 2013. If the devs decide that a patch to change the whole playoff format for this year is too expensive or whatever, I think we can live with out it. I am sure the new playoff format is already in the making for MLB13 as well as the Astros moving to the American League.

mmm take in consideration that the new playoff format was approved by bud selig and the team owners on february 29... just 37 days before release day.
the process to reproduce, pack and ship a couple million copies of a game is not something that can be done in a couple minutes, it take time. so i dont see why you people complain! |

While I understand the concern of this topic, and how it would help make the game feel as current as possible. MLB12 Dev have not hinted this will be accomplished by seasons end, although many of responses you just read here are making very solid points.
