Default Batting

I am currently playing in franchise mode with all the teams(something to do instead of playing with one team). For the life of me, I have a hard time getting on base and scoring runs. I am playing on rookie batting and pitching. I am using the timing button to swing (x button). My last 5 games, i got shutout 4 times and scored 1 run in another game after getting a triple and scoring on a sac fly. Does anyone else have problems getting on base?? So far my record is 8-42 against the computer. What is the trick to getting base hits? I also am using the contact button instead of the power button due to the fact that there is less chance of striking out. Do I need to go to All-star to get hits or is it that much tougher? help please??

if you can get a hit on rookie dont even think about moving to All Star hahaha

mmm i think you should spend some time in the Practice mode, there you can practice your timing, pitch recognition and stuff like that they will help you improve your batting.

Strengths and weaknesses. Find your hitters strength and look for pitches in his strength. You have high ball hitters and low ball hitters.

Pull hitters, Straight away hitters and opposite field hitters.

Fastball hitters or offspeed hitters if you have a fastball hitter the pitcher will tease you with the fastball while he's really trying to get you out with the offspeed pitches.

Know the pitchers strengths and weaknesses. You have ground ball pitchers and fly ball pitchers.

Starters mainly 1,2, and #3 pitchers are going to hit their spots and rarely make mistakes, You have to look for pitches in your strength and his weakness. Ex. If I'm facing a ground ball pitcher I'm looking for pitches up inthe zone but if facing a fly ball pitcher I'm looking for pitches down in the zone depending on how good he is.

If I'm facing 4, 5 starters and mid relief guys out of the bullpen I will challenge them by looking for pitches in his strength. If I'm facing a ground ball pitcher and I'm challenging him I have to use the ball influence to lift the ball so I won't hit the ball on the ground.

look for one pitch in one zone or area. Tilt the pci slightly in the area your looking for the pitch.

Time the pitchers delivery and pickup his release point.

Back up the middle, try an let the ball travel deeper in the zone and take the ball back up the middle. Go to batting practice and don't try and pull the ball. take it back up the middle , this will cut down strike outs. But the pitcher will adjust by throwing harder so you must be prepared to adjust aswell.

You need to have a sound approach/gameplan and make the right adjustments.

Also you have to know the situation, Whats the matchup, Who's the hitter , Who's the pitcher, Who's on first, Who's on deck, Who's warming up in the bullpen.

Based on the situation you could better predict what pitch is about to come.

Also pitchers throw Fastballs to speed your eyes up and offspeed pitches to slow your eyes down. So when you get a fastball look offspeed on the next pitch, And just continue to think along those lines on every pitch.

Here is my suggestion, not a strategy.
Turn hitting sliders up. The ones titled, power, contact, solid hits, timing

I'm not sure if you are new or not to the game, but I had hitting sliders all the way up for a while until I became good. To me, practice mode can get boring. Just keep playing games, franchise will probably be more fun.

Well I can't see myself paying 65 dollars for a game and adjust sliders or playing on anything but the highest level ( Legend). I just can't get motivated to play knowing I handicapped the CPU.But to each his own, Do what you have to do.

I don't care if I lose every game on HOF or All - Star in the back of my mind I 'll be thinking there's a bigger challenge. And that thought will lead to a wondering mind and lack of focus, That's just me, Everybody's different I know but I personally just couldn't do it.
