I am brand new to The Show so I'd like to start by thanking SDS and Sony for making such a great game. I wonder if makers of other sports games feel embarrassed when they play The Show? To my question...I'm playing the spring training schedule in franchise mode; the cpu makes alot of player substitutions late in the game. Many players the cpu puts playing positions that aren't in their attributes. Is the cpu making a mistake or are the players gaining some "training" that may add these positions to their resume?

That is just the computer getting the other players some at-bats to evaluate them after spring training.
In the regular season the CPU will play the players in their correct position for the most part. I have seen them place players in a 'wrong' position late in games when they pinch hit and run out of players at a certain position, or due to an injury.

Spring training really doesn't make a difference at all in franchise mode.
