Hitting and Pitching tips

SDS

Since i suck so much at hitting and pitching, can someone give me tips on how to not get shutout by kluber every game, how to pitch better, and how to hit better. I'm just asking just to hear some thoughts on whats working for you guys this year cause sometimes I don't know what I'm doing at the plate

Honestly, the best advice I can give you for hitting Kluber is, only play when your 100% focused. No distractions, don't play when your tired etc. If I'm any of those things, I'm going to have a miserable time against him. It's why I normally don't play more than one ranked game a day, it's so draining to focus like that for 9 innings. Work the count, the more tired Kluber gets, the more likely you get a hanger.

Can't help ya on pitching, just pray either 1. your opponent has no discipline, or 2. The game decides to be merciful and not throw your perfect release down the middle.

First. You need strike zone 1 or similar (I use strike zone high) so that you can get better look at pitches. Second, go to practice and whatever level u are currently at, practice one higher until u hit 3 home runs.

  1. When I hit, I put my entire thumb on joystick so that I don’t overreact to pitches. I start with the pci slightly up and inside so when the sinker spammers start throwing it u can crank a few out. Also u need to invest in a 10 dollar thumb extender tab to put on your controller. It really makes a difference.

  2. Try to zone in on the pitcher and see their release. You should be able to tell early if a ball will be high or outside/inside depending on what handed they are and who is batting. Don’t swing at those. In fact I would practice only swinging at balls that will be in the top or middle quadrant. Low balls are harder to pci correctly and most of the time it’s gonna be a ground out.

Lastly, make sure Your TV is on game mode. Makes a big difference. Some people have monitors, I don’t. But I’m only a DS hitter so far and I like playing on a big TV.

Pitching wise the biggest tips I can give are to watch your confidence meter. If it drops below 50% have a mound visit to bump it up. Or else you will start throwing BP all day.

Sounds awesome. I'll keep that in mind thanks.

Find the hitting style that works for YOU.

I do not use Zone hitting or an extreme closeup, because for me, it Does Not Work. That's great that most use these type of settings and get results. Good for you! Not my way.

I use Directional Hitting with significant use of the left stick to influence ball direction. And a very patient approach at the plate. And a Retro camera that gives me a nice wide view of the hitting area to help me read both low and high pitches.

It's just another suggestion. Since it's the internet, I imagine someone will come along to tell me I'm "wrong." Again, it's what works best FOR ME.

This is very good advice. Keep distractions away and focus. I also don't usually play more than 2 ranked games a day, usually just one(unless I lose and am on tilt). Really concentrate on being patient. Seeing more pitches tires him out, and your eye starts recognizing breaks the more you see of him.

Specific to Kluber? Try to read what pitches will be low, and lay off them.

I'm personally confused with the whole, Kluber is so good stuff. Maybe I cannot figure out how to use him, but I cannot for the life of me get through 5 innings without him giving up a least 2 HR. No one misses pitches when I use him. Whether I'm pitching in a realistic manner or trying to throw those cheesy high sinkers, he gets hit hard. He was the only pitcher in my rotation (99 Kluber, 98 Hal, 95 Snell, FS Grateral or whatever the Dodgers guys name is, FOTF Ohtani) that consistently gets hit hard.
I haven't played a lot of RS this game cycle, but every time through my rotation, he is the one who takes a loss or puts me in an early hole. I had to make the decision last night to remove him from my starting 5 entirely after he had been relegated to the 5th slot. It sucks having a 99 card that feels unusable for more than 3-4 innings max. I see a lot of people talking in here about how hard he is to face, but I'm not even a great hitter and he is one of the least intimidating pitchers in this game to face. Sorry this is a bit off topic, but I'm frustrated to have a card with such high ratings feel so useless.

are you mixing in slurve and cutter? Cutter blows up the timing window and his slurve, or Imo, slurve is a very hard pitch to hit

Yeah, I've tried pitching in a realistic manner where I'm using all of his pitches. Biggest problem I find with this is that pitches on the black are balls 90% of the time which allows players to simply sit middle and wait on a hanger and guys like Kluber who don't throw anything hard are easy to smash when you hang a pitch, and we all know pitches hang way too much.
I've tried spamming the sinker all over the zone and it's hit hard, even when mixing in the cutter or the slurve for the same reason mentioned above.
