Possible Solution To Prevent "Quit" Games in "RS"

SDS

I feel those who quit games, do so mostly when they feel out matched or when someone just had a really big early inning scoring 3-5 runs & now doesn't want to grind out the game trying to gain back the lead fearing they will continue being out scored by that other team. I know because I have quit many RS games for those same exact 2 reasons.

Oddly at times I have mixed emotions when someone quits on me. At times I feel like "Cool, easy win, easy RS rank points" & at times I get really pissed off because if that game was being played for a program mission objective to gain program points & the person quitting now nixes that mission & it has to be done all over, then that ticks me off.

I feel there is not enough penalty or penalization for those who quit other then the loss itself & getting an other "quit/disconnect" card. The player needs to see there is much more to lose & to be punished for by quitting games.

I feel I may have a solution to this that will prevent those from quitting as easy & as often as they do. Some out there will LOVE this idea & some will HATE this idea. But here it goes ..........

Lets say that RS game would give +50 to the winner & -50 to the loser. If the Loser played out the entire game to it's end, then the loser only gets -25. He only loses half the ranking points as a bonus for playing the entire game. But if he quits, he now gets a -150 which is 3x in negative then what the winner got. So quitting is now a ranking point value of like losing 3 games immediately back to back. Apart from that, quitting causes a 3 hour ban, meaning the system detects your last "quit" & blocks you from being matched in an RS Game for 3 hours.

ONLY THING THAT BYPASSES THIS "PENALTY" AN AGREED "FRIENDLY QUIT"

I feel this will prevent many from quitting so easily & as often as they do. Tell me what you guys think.

What about when you get disconnected...is that harsh of a penalty fair?

SDS

Mostly all "Quits" are intentional via the quit option. Very very rarely is it accidentally because someone actually lost internet connection. I have done Online (RS, BR, Events) for 3 years now & never have I experienced a disconnect due to my internet being interrupted. So to answer your Q, yes I feel it's fair because the penalty will prevent most "Quits" by a huge margin.

SDS

Nah this is dumb, who cares if people quit? There aren’t missions anymore that get effected by someone quitting. Also, sometimes quitting can be strategic as it saves your bullpen stamina, same on the other side as well, I’d rather someone quit so my bullpen stamina get reset and I don’t have to use it.

SDS

There are also real life factors to people having to quit, internet disconnecting is one, not everybody has the same internet as you, which has widely been discussed on this site before.

I’ve had to quit games I’ve been winning before because I’ve had a kid wake up at night and had to deal with them and someone wouldn’t accept a friendly quit, so I guess I should lose 150 points for something out of my control? I’ve been playing a game and then been hit by a storm during the game and have had the power go out, should I lose 150 points and be banned for 3 hours for not being able to control the weather?

There is no solution needed for people quitting games.

SDS

To remedy that, everyone can have "3 Grievance Outs" per month. Meaning if they truly did get disconnected due to internet issues or some other emergency within the household did happen that prevents from being able to continue playing that game. Then they can use 1 of those 3 Grievance Outs & not be hit with the Quit Penalty. Now that is very fair because again many quit just because they being crushed or out matched. However with a mercy rule implemented, the suffering wouldn't that long if the other player is killing you that d**m fast. LMAO

SDS

My last 5 ranked season games have gone

9 inning win
6-7 inning mercy rule win
3 quit wins

Not once was I like, these dudes that quit should lose 150 points and be banned for 3 hours. If I beat someone so bad they want to quit that’s punishment enough.

This seems to be the only community I’ve ever been a part of that seems to have a problem with free easy wins.

Nah this is dumb and will never be implemented lol

SDS

Who cares if someone quits, points and on to the next game. Let them quit all day.

You expect them to be able to implement making sure they can adjust to grievance quits and adjust any quit penalty when the gameplay can be sporadic at times and twitch drops aren’t even handed out properly during a stream. Keep dreaming😂😂😂

You bet, was basically backing your point

I don't understand some people's obsession with playing more than needed. As is a RS game is a huge time sink for ppl like me who have long work hours. You're going in expecting a 30-45 minute game. When you make someone ragequit it's a great feeling cause now you get to move on to the next and fit that game in. Vice versa, sometimes things pop up and you have to bail, you take the L and move on. Who cares. You're pressing too much on this one.

SDS

SDS should work harder at eliminating rage quits from their scripted games. Since everything is scripted and determined in advance, that means that a rage quit is also predetermined. I hate when SDS controls my mind, body, and soul and forces me to rage quit, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I am going to have to do it again in 4 days anf I hate the thought of it, but it’s already been etched in stone and some bearded guy carried it down a mountain.

I think getting a loss is fair. No more needed. If i am killing a dude 8 nothing in the 7th, I actually prefer they quit. There is no fun or suspense for either person. Personally, being behind by a lot won’t make me quit. When I am hitting good there is no lead I can’t overcome. You just need to have patience. However, some days I don’t have that patience and just want a quick fun game not a grind

I have actually quit winning or losing when I just don’t have the patience to get through a 9 inning or sometimes extra inning game. Also, if something more I retesting grabs my attention I will quit no problem. It’s an online video game the commitment shouldn’t be that big.

I also play EA UFC the commitment to an online game is like 5-10 minutes maybe. With a quick KO it could be 1 minute. The commitment of time to a 9 inning ranked game or even 6 inning event game can be a lot and the chances of something coming up are very high. A phone call, a door bell, taking a deuce, having to leave because the extra inning game is going too long, so many reasons.

Anyway, taking the L is enough for me.

SDS

This is quite possibly the worst suggestion I have read. People already penalize themselves by leaving. I've come back from 8 runs in the 9th before. -150 points and the 3-hour ban is more than overkill, it's basically a nuclear bomb.

SDS

Lol 3 hour ban, this S### isn't that serious buddy

You confuse me. In one post you complain that you're getting matched up with players that are Elite, thus not giving you a chance to compete; thus giving you one of two options: Take a beating or quit.

Then in another post, you want to 'punish' people for quitting.

Only 'solution' is to maybe implement a 'Concede' button.
