Advice on investing/flipping

SDS

I haven't really done much of this, this is my 1st year playing the game so I'm still learning all of the ins and outs.

Right now I'm picking up some silver and low golds at good prices in anticipation of the TA4 coming out. I figure there's lots like me who did what they needed to get Trout and then just passively and periodically tackle the affinities. It would seem to me demand will go way up once TA4 drops, especially for rivals of cards that we assume will be in high demand, like yankees, Tigers, etc.

I've occasionally flipped cards for smallish profits just to get an idea of the turnaround time, and I'm understanding more about the how the boss prices and demand work.

Any advice or suggestions from anyone who's been doing this awhile and has been successful in generating decent return over time?

Thanks in advance,

-J

I'm not an "invest" guy. I like to keep everything as liquid as possible, especially now that we have more or less unlimited transaction amounts (As of a couple of years ago, you could only have 20 active transactions at a time. BUZZKILL!!!) Buying up loads of the same card in anticipation of TA/Upgrades, etc. and locking all those stubs up unable to be used just irks me. I want velocity!!!

Build up a stockpile as big as you are comfortable with and then just go to town flipping everything you can.

That's what I've been doing, I've also been scanning for gaps. The biggest gaps are on higher priced cards but I'm not comfortable with that yet. I try to keep 450-500k in stubs constantly so shelling out say 350 for someone like Gary Carter and trying to sell him for 450 seems kind of risky.

While investing is nice when it works out, the stubs you have tied up in investments could be working for you right now if you used them for flipping instead. I flipped for 6 days last week to get Alomar and I made 2.6m from 175k. The more stubs you have the more you make. Just flip cheap, popular cards that move fast. Easy.
