SDS where is Elite Round in Beach Ball packs?

SDS

What are they waiting for? Been over 1 month since they released BB packs. Store has no more non standard packs since HL are gone. They need to release a new elite round. Finest packs will be coming out in the next 2-3 weeks. Elite round needs to be added b4. Add Chipper, Joe Morgan, MVP Betters. I am a pack addict. I need me new packs.

SDS

Here’s the thing, we still need to see high gold or diamonds for the following legends and flashbacks:

Vida Blue
Burt Blyleven
Dennis Eckersley
Whitey Ford
Keith Foulke
Bob Gibson
Goose Gossage
Ron Guidry
Fergie Jenkins
Cliff Lee
Jack Morris
Robb Nen
Phil Niekro
Troy Percival
Dan Plesac
Mark Prior
Robin Roberts
Lee Smith
Warren Spahn
Bruce Sutter
Cy Young
Jake Arrieta
Wade Davis
Matt Harvey
Greg Holland
Craig Kimbrel
Francisco Liriano
Mark Melancon
Darren O Day
Michael Pineda
Rick Porcello
David Price
Koji Uehara
Johnny Venters
Justin Verlander
Adam Wainwright
Luis Aparicio
Richie Ashburn
Orlando Cepeda
Johnny Damon
Adam Dunn
Jim Edmonds
Steve Finley
Cliff Floyd
Ken Griffey Jr
Keith Hernandez
Andruw Jones
Chipper Jones
Ralph Kiner
Edgar Martinez
Willie Mays
Bill Mazeroski
Willie McCovey
Joe Morgan
Dale Murphy
Eddie Murray
John Olerud
Tony Perez
Cal Ripken Jr
Brooks Robinson
Enos Slaughter
Willie Stargell
Omar Vizquel
Honus Wagner
Billy Williams

So I’d be a little surprised if at least some of them weren’t in some form of pack. Even if 30 of them went to TA4, there’s still enough to fill more packs, as well as finest and postseason cards yet to come.

I’m guessing some of those will be in next Friday’s run it back program

SDS

half those players will not get a higher card. TA 4 will probably be Finest cards. I don't know but it seems SDS has been slow this year in releasing new cards.

A lot of those guys already have diamonds, some very high diamonds, so I wouldn’t expect them to get another one.

SDS

I dunno. On the one hand you’d think cards like McCovey, Stargell or Vida Blue may not need a higher diamond, but I’d be surprised if we didn’t see a SS version of most cards, particularly based on the way they’ve reused players like Smoltz or indeed, the prospect/future stars/players league cards like Gavin Lux who have endless variations of very similar cards for pretty much no reason at all. It would be something of a surprise to see them make multiple versions of players who don’t even deserve a solitary diamond card like Gavin Lux, yet omit a card like SS Willie Stargell, Jim Edmonds or Edgar Martinez on the basis that they already have a single diamond card in game.

For some of the elite guys like Stargell I agree. I doubt he will end the year with a 90 being his highest card like it is now. Same for Edgar. Same for Mccovey with a 95. I can’t see 83 being Fergie Jenkins’ highest card fir the year either. Certainly guys like Eck, Kimbrel, Ripken, Griffey, Gibson, Cy Young, Wagner, Jimmie Foxx, Mays and Gossage who always have 99s will get them.

But a lot of the other guys on your list I can’t see doing better than they already have. Guys like Foulke, Plesac and Floyd probably aren’t getting better than the 87s they currently have. I can’t see Olerud and Vizquel doing better than their current 89s. Same for Mazeroski at 88. I doubt Dale Murphy gets better than his current 91 or Vida Blue better than his current 93. Just for a few examples.

I’ve been wondering if they lost the rights to Kiner this year because he hasn’t had any cards at all so far, which is unusual. Usually there’s at least one lower tier card for each star. Same goes for Tony Perez.

I don't know but it seems SDS has been slow this year in releasing new cards.

At this point last year, there had been 586 flashbacks/legend cards released. This year, there have been 640.

BUT ... that includes prestige cards. If you factor them out, you're down to 568. So that would be technically less than last year.

HOWEVER ... that can be explained entirely by Topps Now. There were 63 TN cards at this point last year while there's only 43 so far this year. And I don't think you can blame SDS for the lack of early season TN cards. That'd be China.

I mean, let’s face it, most people wouldn’t even care if we got a SS Cliff Floyd, or Vizquel. Still, there’s definitely a precedent that they have had higher rated cards in years past. People won’t be clamouring for the return of Kiner or Perez either, I wouldn’t expect. I’d struggle to see where Foulke deserves a better card than for his postseason as well. But you’d expect the best versions of a lot of those cards, particularly the legends to be SS, Prime or Hardware (Awards) series, not All Stars or whatever 🤷♂

SDS

There is no elite round for beach ball packs, rare is elite.

You dont think Rogers Hornsby is elite? He was the collection reward for National League last year

SDS

Lol @ releasing new beach ball themed packs when first day of Fall is tomorrow

I assume that was done to try to spread the numbers around for the Trout collection. I mean there is clearly a shortage of postseason cards when you have mid 80s postseason guys going for like 75k because there are so few of them. So rather than having like 300 SS and Awards cards I assume they tried to find ones they could use elsewhere.

SDS

I don't care what they release but release something, I've got a pile of stubbs to spend and there's not enough interesting cards to buy right now and the prices all suck

same here.

SDS

Part of the reason we are getting less legends and flash backs is because we have so many prospects and future stars. All those packs could have been flashbacks. The price we pay.

SDS

Where are elite picks for packs in general? Of all the Ducks in the Pond packs I've opened, none of them had elite picks. C'mon, SDS! Gimmie at least one!

SDS

Part of me is happy. I only draw base when I buy packs.
