Extreme showdown

Is a joke. I was down 19-20 with 9 outs left... I won with 1 out left on a sac fly.. Here were Pearson numbers... 9.1 inning pitched 2 hits yes only 2 hits. 13 ks and 12 walks. He walked in like 7 runs.. Pathetic.

My experience wasn’t quite that extreme but fairly close. 7 hits 6BBs would have had about 5 more walks if I didn’t chase close pitches in 3-2 counts. My first batter was a 4 pitch walk that set the tone right away.

SDS

2 hits though? Lol

Look at it this way. You didn’t have to work for it. I wonder if someone can beat showdown by just setting the controller down and watching.

Klue did it live on stream basically and didn’t swing until he was down two with bases loaded to win it with a slam. Basically laid down the sticks numerous times and didn’t touch them.

I wish I had watched that. I put my controller on the floor a few times to remove the temptation to swing.

I'm probably going to do just that after reading peoples experiences with it.

SDS

I had a harder time vs Chapman than I did vs Pearson. He was easy to hit. Sit on fastballs. I hit 4 bombs on him including the game winning slam. Only struck out twice. He did walk about 8 batters including 2 runs.

I struggle with patience but I forced myself to wait.

I didn’t face Chapman but I struggled with Sale after loading up on lefties.

SDS

So im at the 2nd to last one and drew feller... whats the verdict? Skip? 2 runs isnt a lot, but guys saying hes super tough...

SDS

Feller was the toughest for me, I faced Chapman, Sale, and Hoffman too ( easiest) going thru twice.

Feller is much tougher than Pearson, but he will walk you multiple times too if you are patient.

SDS

Well i apparantly got a way different final than you guys... 72% strike% only 3 walks, dotting corners, 3 pitches total in the center (including high and low). I don't think I can beat this... did they change this with the update?

SDS

So looking for a little help. Skipped feller the 1st time, lost miserably in the final. Played the feller mission 2nd time, ridiculously hard..

In my final i didnt get the walks others seem to have gotten, lots of corners, almost nothing center cut, taking to 2 strikes I could only get him to 140ish pitches with 2-3 walks.

Did he get easier once he was in the red for you guys? I had lots of hard hits but lots of direct line outs, diving catches... i typically hit hof/legend pretty well, destroyed the god squad game 8-0.. this seems incredibly hard.

SDS

Update and a few tips for anyone who cares, or is still trying to get this done. I flipped it on before heading into work tonight and proceeded to draft the worst squad ever for a showdown. My best hitters were Reggie Jackson and Cruz (only ok against righties). I breezed through Catfish and Mize, drafted for Paxon then accidentally hit the skip button (still half asleep). so needing to score 17 runs I wasn't optimistic.

This time around I had a TOTALLY different experience than the 1st. 1st time through lots of tight strikes, nothing in the middle, very few walks.. The 1st time I waited till 2 strikes trying to get him tired. This time around I just sat high FB and if it was a good pitch to hit I went for it. Long story short I finished it with 8 outs left and honestly it should have been cleaner and quicker, I made a few mistakes. The key differences were having Gold clear for takeoff, inner peace, and Ice Water as well as being ready to hit right out of the box. For me anyway the take till 2 strategy probably put me on the defensive, swinging was always the secondary action and in doing so you pass up on a lot of hittable pitches. Knocking down his confidence is as important as tiring him out.

Even not taking I ran his pitches to 150-160 when it ended with plenty of outs left, the 1st time through, taking, I only got him to 140-150 and lost.

If I'm being honest though there was a significant difference in the pitcher I faced today vs. the 1st time. Whether things changed, or it's just the complete randomness of what you get at any moment it is kind of odd that I could have such completely different experiences for what i essentially the same mission.
