I kind of wish they wouldn't have changed this

I had enjoyed using an opener, and then bringing in my starter to go from inning 3-9. They took it away, which was confusing due to the fact that teams are using openers in real life. Thoughts?

Sort of. They made it be that if you brought a starter out of the pen, they start with half the stamina that they began with. Therefore my starter can't go from 3-9.

SDS

That is stupid. I had been using an opener strategy as well and so do real MLB teams so this is a dump change by SDS.

SDS

True occasionally teams would use openers, but I dont know of too many times that a starter would come in to finish the game. TBH the whole opener thing doesnt seem to be catching on too well.

You can still use openers lol.

SDS

But not if the SP stamina doesn't start at 100%. A SP should be able to come into a game in the 2nd inning the same as the 1st. Use of an opener allows the manager to assess the handedness of the opposing lineup and align pitching against it. Its also a fact that the team's best hitters are at the top of the lineup so the use of the opener allows for 1 less time thru that part of the order for the SP.

Yes, but then the starter can't go the whole rest of the game.

Yes, but that makes sense lol. I understand if you did it earlier in the year, when pitching stamina was whack, then you were use to it. but now it is more realistic. And obviously done so people cannot abuse the SP system and use these guys all the F'ing time lol.

I don't want my starter to be used every game. Just once every 4 games like normal. But now I have to use them like normal. I had enjoyed the opener. Who knows, maybe they let us use it next year?

The opener is still perfectly usable. They just have to nerf the SP in relief because of abuse. SP dont come in and pitch 3-9 in MLB. Just cuz it may have happened a couple times. not sure if did, doesnt mean it is a thing. usually an opener means a BP game.

I don’t miss seeing Kluber EVERY game. Easier to hit now, but was very tough earlier on.

I don’t mind the new changes. People would take advantage. Literally you could bring kluber in every game and pitch the 7th-9th with full energy. DONT MISS it. It’s not perfect with the new change, but I think what they did was in the right direction.

Also, I don’t care if you can hit kluber, that’s not my point.

You can still use an opener, just don’t expect to use him in consecutive games. I don’t see what your complaining about, unless your upset you cant just run out your top 2 pitchers in your starting pitchers all the time. I love people are forced to use an entire rotation. Keep up the good work SDS

I meant that it is not as easy to use a starter every 4 games, 3-7. I only use a starter every 3-4 games, never back to back games. I was just expressing my opinion.

I 100% see what you were saying, I was just stating why it cannot happen. People would literally bring Kluber in to pitch an inning or 2 in relief, then the very next game or 2 would start Kluber lol. That is very unrealistic and cannot happen. And they had to combat that somehow. It still happens too much TBH but at least they cut it down a bit.

Got it. My bad. I get what you mean now. 🙂 I agree, I saw Kluber WAY TOO MUCH. But I liked that because I CRUSHED him. 🙂
