Ideal input lag

SDS

Hey guys, I have a nice 65” Samsung TV that I use game mode on but I always read about people using monitors and how much monitors improve gameplay. I have a nice 120 refresh Pc gaming monitor but I’ve never tried playing my PS4 on it because I sure do like playing my PS4 on my tv. That being said, what is the ideal refresh rate we are trying to achieve to be competitive and make it to WS. I always seem to get stuck right after I make Divisional and I’m trying to make the leap up. Thank you for your advice in advance!

Wouldn't the ideal input lag obviously be zero??? Am i missing something here?

Well no [censored]. I’m being realistic. Obviously you can’t achieve zero...don’t be an [censored]

I have a 144 HTZ monitor, 1 ms input lag and I think it gets the job done. After play MLB 17 and MLB18 on a TV, never made it close to WS... maybe a .500 player. After MLB 19 came out, made the switch, and now I'm in WS every season and I see the ball way better.

43-13 this year, made WS first season and grinding RS again this season ONCE MY FIELDERS DECIDE TO LOCK ONTO THE BALL SDS JESUS CHRIST!

But yeah, 1ms response time is the best, and anywhere from 120-140 HTz will do the job.

Your TV probably has 120hz refresh rate as well. Just guessing as I dont know the model. But in game mode your TV can, probably, do 15-20 ms input lag compared to a high end gaming monitor doing around 9-10ms. The difference is negligible and probably not able to be noticed. But your TV has to be in game mode to achieve such speed.

1ms, you can get a nice monitor that's 1ms for 150 buckaroooooos.

PS4 cannot do more than 60 fps

DO you have any idea what that "1ms" means? It isnt bad, but it isnt what you are looking for on console gaming.

That doesnt matter. Having a better monitor helps no matter what. Also you arent gonna buy a 60 htz refresh rate with a 1 ms input lag?

Dont get me wrong, it doesnt hurt, it just isnt gonna help on a PS4. Just get any 60hz monitor with good input lag. And you will not get 1ms Input lag on any monitor or TV despite the speed. 1ms is referencing the refresh rate. Which is almost always inaccurate. And input lag and Rfresh rate arent the same thing.

SDS

There's no such thing as 1ms input lag when it comes to monitors. The correct terminology is 1ms response time, which is a marketing term and is not even remotely close to 1ms input lag.

SDS

God I hate when people pretend they know what they’re talking about and give false information.

There is a difference between 1ms response time and input lag. They are NOT the same

I am a PC gamer with a nice 1440p monitor that can give me 165 FPS. None of that means diddly when playing on my PS4. My PS4 can do 1080p at 60 fps which is about a 9.1 ms input lag on my monitor. Even though when I game at 1440p and 165 fps on my PC I get a 4.1ms input lag.

SDS

I guess I’ll try hooking up my PS4 pro to my monitor and see if I can tell a difference. Just sucks going from a 65” tv to like a 24” monitor. Love being able to sit back and relax in my gaming chair cause I can see the big tv easily. Now I’ll have to sit up straight and be closer to the monitor lol. Guess that’s the price I gotta pay to be l33t

SDS

So are we trying to get under 10.0 ms? What the general number to try and shoot for?

SDS

Anywhere in the 10-14 range is good

Realistically at 60hz and 60 FPS 9.1 is about the fastest I have ever seen. I am sure someone can get better, but that is probably realistically it. On normal LED type panels.
