SS Mario Mendoza
I have 2 kids and a wife going back to school. I have to cook dinners, do home-work with kids, do household chores, and get them ready for bed. I do not enter a game if I know I cant make it through without pausing 20 times. That [censored] is annoying. If your personal life is too much for a game with already waaaaaaayyyyyy too much pause time...then play offline. My life is busy and I am not trying to spend another 5 minutes staring at a screen because you need to go smoke every other batter.
Randy Myers part of the 300 save club and the Nasty Boys. Maybe Jose Rijo.....only if the pronounce it Joooseeee RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRiiijoooo!
I have whooped and been whooped by all 99 diamond teams and I have whooped and been whooped by teams that are struggling to put a full diamond team out. Having a good team helps but having the skill is what is more important.
As a Reds fan, I second Scott Rolen!
So just to wrap up from mid thread... 18 was worse than 19 except for one person who says 19 is worse and your facts are wrong even though he admits he only plays DD RS. He invalidates the rest of the game completely because he doesnt play it then thinks he has the facts. 70% of the game does not matter apparently when rating a game!
John Kruk and a tobacco spit cup!!!
@SefarR said in Your 5 most wanted SS cards still missing:
The title is pretty self-explanatory. If you could choose 5 more signature series cards (that SDS has the rights to) to still arrive before we move onto MLB 20, which ones would you choose? For myself, the list would the following: Orel Hershiser Realistically speaking, even if he did get a SS card they wouldn't be able to boost his /9's much (career best WHIP 1.052 and K/9 6.5) unless they totally abandon reality, but we could still expect some increases to his 92 version even with respect /9's. We might also see a bit of a boost to his fastball velocity, break and stamina. Brett Saberhagen Statistically speaking - and also accolades-wise - Saberhagen had a significantly better career than Hershiser (also compared to most other pitchers). His '89 season was actually very good with a WHIP of 0.961 and a FIP of 2.45 - his K/9 that year wasn't anything insane (6.6) but he got it up to 7.5 at his best. We could expect to see a quite a high H/9 stat and quite a bit lower K/9 stat with great control. In his early years he could also throw quite hard so we could expect his fastball to reach 97 mph (especially given how SS cards have been boosted). Goose Gossage This would be close to what his immortal card was last year - nearly perfect P/9's and better control than his 95 version. Andruw Jones This is a highly anticipated card (also by me), but realistically speaking he probably wouldn't make into any other teams than theme lineups at this point (his contact and vision would simply be too low). This is probably why SDS added his 91 card so early as it actually gave a nice window to use his card when there wasn't that many better options out there. Rob Dibble This is just a personal favorite of mine - we could expect small increases into his /9's, but I suppose for him to be included into most people's lineups SDS would have to give him a change-up (after which he would be an absolute beast).

I will only accept a Rob Dibble SS if he gives up a homerun it allows you to throw the next pitch into the crowd.
Seriously, thank you all. I have been grinding out the team affinities to get all the post season/breakout/rookie/all star players I can. A lot of buying 74s for 25 a piece.
The game tries too hard to even out the playing field in online play. However, that is what the different ratings for season play is for. Pitching should not be punishable attribute to help an opponent stay in the game like it is this year. For example, I would say I am in the upper tier of pitching. I find myself to be very good at it but I am a horrible hitter. I will never make the WS and that is ok. That is where the playing field should even itself out...in the match rankings.
C - Yogi with post game interviews 1B - The Mayor 2B - Charlie Gehringer 3B - Adrian Beltre SS - Dave Concepcion OF - Paul O'Neill OF - Bo Jackson OF - John Kruk (1st goes to the mayor and Kruk did play OF) (must come with spit cup) SP - Jose Rijo (announcer must roll his R for at least 5 seconds) RP - Randy Myers

Great repertoire doesn't mean guys who just throw gas and a slower offspeed pitch. Everybody can hit 100mph fastballs nowadays. You want guys who have pitches that move, like sinkers, cutters, circle changes, big wonky curveballs, that kinda stuff. Especially the way sinkers move in this game, they are probably the toughest to hit with all the movement and break even if you throw it high. So don't just look for flamethrowers with good H/9 and K/9. Look for pitchers that have a lot of moving pitches. You wanna get outs by generating weak contact, not by strikeouts. Striking out is a rarity nowadays anyway. I disagree the guy I played against last night had 13 strikeouts...yes....I am that bad at hitting! LOL - I somehow still won. Yes....he was that bad at hitting too. Truth be told I agree 100% with you. Typically I might strike out 2-3 times a game but for some reason I just couldnt do anything right that game. Luckily, my pitching was on point. I had 11 strikeouts to his 13...it was just one really ugly game. So many Ks seems like a rare occurrence. I usually only get that many Ks against a dude who sits heat exclusively and looks silly on every curveball I throw and doesn't know or just flat out refuses to adapt.

My biggest issue lately is kid aggro and wife aggro. My daughter likes to do this thing where she stands literally 6 inches from me and just stares at me while I am trying to play. My anxiety goes through the roof...she will just talk and talk and talk and talk and I will get off my game and its all downhill. During that game she was in there almost the whole time then the wife came in and started talking and then the son followed... I had all 3 trying to talk to me at the same time, while Im trying to bat. I wanted to just give up for the night right there. I get to play only about an hour a night if Im lucky and its usually spend fighting aggro!

Cutters are great but if you can get them off balance throwing a couple cutters and hit them with a slider. I will say it is more effective against opposite hands.
I have been caught a couple times turning a single into a double or a double into a triple because my screen showed the ball going past the defender. Only to find out if lagged for a second and all of a sudden OF has the ball and throwing it in while Im only halfway to the base...I tend to see it on the defensive side more often, I have seen it in pitching a couple times. I literally had the ball freeze halfway to the plate, then unfreeze and it was a strike and I had no idea what was going on lol. Oh well, it is what it is but still a very fun game.
