For the past 3 and 1/2 years I've been working on a roster that is completely filled with over 1600 fictional created players in MLB The Show. I originally made the roster during the summer of 2016 on the PS3, and published the roster around September of that year. The roster consisted of 30 completed 25-man rosters (around 800 players). Once I got a PS4, the only way I could port the rosters between consoles was through franchise mode.
Unfortunately, I was not able to recover the original roster file, but through Franchise Mode I've been able to update, maintain, and progress players in the league, as well as expand into the minor leagues and continue to create more players who enter the league.
Since I've been playing this franchise mode for the past 4 MLB The Show titles (5 games including '16 for PS3), I have played through 4 seasons with these rosters and players. In those 4 seasons a lot has happened, including trades, injuries, rosters moves, and more.
I am posting about this Franchise Mode to promote the new series I will be doing on the league. I will provide the link below for Parts 1 and 2 of the series, where I showcase the current AL and NL rosters for 2019.
PART 1 - AMERICAN LEAGUE ROSTSERS
PART 2 - NATIONAL LEAGUE ROSTSERS
Hopefully I can gain some support from The Show community, and maybe gain a following for this series so I can remake the rosters for MLB 2020.
Stay tuned as this is not the only created player MLB Project that I've worked on. More roleplaying rosters to come!!
I decided to put this in "Off-Topic" since i'm pretty much just self promoting this project of mine. This series is related to MLB 20 the Show however.
A few months ago I had an idea where I wanted to create a new league within MLB The Show using their new rebrand feature in Franchise mode. I created 30 original teams using 30 new cities not used in present day MLB.
The league is known as the "IBU" : The Independent Baseball Union. I created a fully fictional roster consisting of over 2,200 created players that can be found in the roster vault. All 30 team logos can also be found in the logo vault by searching "IBU"
Using a 30-team controlled franchise, I have been broadcasting live games of this Franchise series on my YouTube Channel.
I thought I would put this out there since there is still no live baseball on TV right now, and people are still looking for some sort of baseball to watch. I highly encourage people to check it out. I will continue to stream live games of all 30 teams, as well as putting together highlight reels, recaps, ASG/HR Derby footage, Postseason, etc.
Custom Leagues is going to be completely online and Diamond Dynasty based.
an Offline custom league mode just sounds like a Franchise sandbox mode, (which does sound cool), but not really realistic for the upcoming game. I think Custom leagues will give you the ability to make your own "division" like the ones in DD (Wild card, World Series, etc), and put a certain amount of friends in the league, determine how many games you play, and see who's Diamond Dynasty squad is the best.
It is pretty much confirmed by now that this year will be the year we see relocation and expansion teams in Franchise, and potential other modes for MLB The Show. As someone who has loved customization in sports game, I cannot wait to see how The Show incorporates this in the game, and how it will show the creative side to The Show community. Here are my thoughts and wishlist for the upcoming customization expansion
Little to no limitations for team customization
Although it is the first year we are seeing this in Franchise, it would be a bummer to only get a short list of pre-chosen cities to choose from, let alone team names and jerseys. I believe SDS will implement expansion team customization similarly to Diamond Dynasty team creation.
New/Updated Logo Creator
It would be great to see a new or updated logo creator for MLB 20. Not that the current one in Diamond Dynasty is terrible, but in Franchise Mode you will most likely be seeing the logo you've created just browsing through the menu then you would in the DD menu. I would imagine they would revamp the logo creator in order to create primary and secondary logos for custom teams.
Custom Stadiums are kinda a must...
I know it sounds like a stretch considering nothing really changes year to year when it comes to stadium options. But if SDS is gonna come out 3 months before release and promise Franchise relocation, it would wouldn't make sense to let us create our own team then just stick us in a minor league/classic stadium like its DD. Not sure how much customization we'll get year one, but it will be a game changing feature when you think about what dimensions will be allowed, seating capacity, props & scenery, etc.
Be able to to re-customize anytime.
Franchise Mode in The Show has this weird tendency of not letting you do certain things at certain points in the season. The last thing I would want is to only get one opportunity to edit my team's jersey's or team info. However I do think we will be limited to how many times we can make changes to our team over the course of a Franchise year.
Hopefully this addition to the game turns into a huge success, as I assume it will. I hope they make the creation and customization process unique and different from Diamond Dynasty's. My one true wish with MLB The Show going forward is the ability to custom leagues and make a fully fictional team league. I feel like it could be a stretch for MLB 20, but I don't think its far down the road!
