    We Demand Justice

TL/DR: Like this post to vote for an increase of Stan Musial’s speed attribute

    Here is my case:

Ok, so a few weeks ago I posted that Stan Musial was done dirty with his 47 speed. I mentioned that he was tied for 19th on the all-time triples list, and only one player ahead of him was even born in the 20th century. The guys ahead of him played in ballparks that didn’t even have outfield fences. Lol

Speaking of ballparks, some argued that it was the bigger ballparks that Musial played in that inflated his triples. So, I decided to compare his numbers with other cards in the game who’s careers overlapped with Musial’s. This is what I found:

First, let’s start with Stan the Man himself.

He hit 177 triples in his career. He also stole 78 bases, with a 52% stolen base success rate. He has 47 speed in this game.

Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese had far fewer triples than Musial, but stole way more bases at a way higher success rate. I will not argue that Musial should be as fast as they are. But....

Duke Snider hit 85 triples, and stole 99 bases at a 57% success rate. He has 69 speed, making him WAY faster than Musial. That isn’t right.

Monte Irvin only hit 31 triples. Now, he did steal bases successfully at a 75% rate, but he only stole 28 bases in his entire career. That means his skipper rarely sent him. He was probably pretty slow. In this game? 66 speed, almost 20 points higher than Musial. That isn’t right.

Ted Williams hit just 71 triples; more than 100 FEWER than Musial. He also stole fewer bases (71), at a slightly higher success rate (58%). He is faster than Musial in this game with 56 speed.

Minnie Minoso hit 83 triples. He did steal 205 bases, but his success rate was only 61%. That’s good, but is it 87 speed good?

When you compare Minoso with Al Kaline, though, you’re left with more questions than answers. Kaline hit nearly as many triples (75), and stole 137 bases AT A 67% SUCCESS RATE! That’s not too shabby. Yet Kaline has just 62 speed.

Larry Doby hit just 52 triples and stole just 47 bases at 56%. He has 64 speed and is faster than Musial. That isn’t right.

Eddie Mathews hit 72 triples, and stole fewer bases than Musial. Mathews is faster. That isn’t right.

Bill Mazeroski hit fewer triples and stole fewer bases. He is faster than Musial. That isn’t right.

Ernie Banks and Joe Torre are both faster than Musial in this game, yet COMBINED they have fewer triples AND fewer stolen bases than Musial. And they both got caught stealing more than they were successful (48% and 44%, respectively).

So if you think SDS has committed a grave injustice against Stan “The Man” Musial by giving him just 47 speed, like this post to make your voice heard.

We demand a boost of AT LEAST ten attribute points to his speed rating, in order to give credit where credit is due. Stan did not work that hard all those years only to be disrespected like this. He did not give his blood, sweat, and tears to entertain the baseball world, only to have the memory of his skill set so slandered by SDS.

It’s one thing to make a mistake. But when you know better, you do better.

SDS: Now you know better. Please do better.

(PS: This is all in good fun. I’m not really upset about it. I’m not even a Cardinals fan. I’m just saying...)

RE: Just got the new Tatis, what’s my next move?

Just say you’re a good hitter.

You don’t have to disguise your humble brag as a solicitation of advice. You’re too good at the game to act like you don’t know what to do with Tatis.

My Thoughts on the Dead Ball Event

    I think this is fantastic.

To everybody blasting it, consider the rich history of baseball. There have been many different eras, and this game has given us cards from just about every one of them.

We’ve had Moonshot events and every other kind of event, why not a Dead Ball Era? I think it’s genius.

Remember, some people/organizations (Irl or video game) prefer high-scoring and build their teams around that. Others believe in pitching and defense and build their team around that.

Why shouldn’t they have their event, too? There is nothing wrong with honoring a distinct era of baseball in this video game, especially when the game features players of that era.

For those of you who love power and play at Shippett, sit this one out, just like others have sat out the Moonshot and what not.

For me, I could go either way. I may play this Event a lot and I may not play it much, but I think it’s cool that SDS is honoring this era by including it in the game.

    Stan Musial should be faster

I was interested in learning more about the career of Stan the Man so I did a little research.

Turns out he is 19th on the all time triples list, and no one ahead of him on the list played after WWII. Not even close. Only one guy was even born in the 20th century (1903).

The year this card represents, his MVP season of 1948, he led the majors with 18 triples.

Yet he only has 47 speed. Unless you’re playing at Polo, I don’t think 47 speed can even get a triple in this game.

Anyway, just sharing what I learned about the great Stan Musial...

RE: Why does everyone play at Shippet?

I don’t know but I wouldn’t mind that stadium being taken out of the game. I am SO. DANG. TIRED. of playing at Shippett.

    Waste of Time

This is more observation than complaint, but...

You know what is a huge waste of time in this game?

Cut aways for the appeal of a check swing.

If you consider how infrequently they actually call it a strike it seems pretty pointless for that little feature.

RE: I am buying all of the Arozarena LS.

Wait a minute....You’re 40 years old, Chuck, and you’re berating people on the Internet for the “slang” they use?

Wow. That’s funny. I thought you were a teen. Seriously.

Eatyum showed you how and why you were misguided in your comments but you kept digging your hole deeper and deeper.

Eatyum told you that you can’t determine the level of “self-respect” or education level of someone by the slang or meme phrases they use on the Internet.

In this case, he was right! I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in History and have earned two graduate degrees, including a Master’s. That’s pretty well educated. Wouldn’t you agree?

When Eatyum pointed out how wrong you were, you said you were right and that it was about “context.” You said it was too much to go into detail here, then spent numerous other posts and walls of text to explain further why you were wrong. So no, it wasn’t too much detail to go into, it was the lack of of a substantial argument that prevented further explanation.

There are three main things about this whole thread that I find hilariously ironic.

    1. You are denigrating people for their grammar, yet your posts contain several grammatical errors.

    2. You said, “If someone says something I dont (grammatical error in original) like...it would be better for me [to not] get offend[ed] by it...But guys joking around about something that has nothing to do with me is a conversation I, as a human being, would be better off staying away from.”

Uh....are you serious? That’s EXACTLY what you did NOT do when you commented on “bro” and “bruh.”

    1. You’re 40, telling Eatyum, who is in his early 20’s, that he needs to mature and learn the ways of the world when, clearly, he has a much more broad, thoughtful, considerate, and mature worldview than you.

Sorry, Chuck. I’ve seen you post many times on this forum and never took issue with anything you’ve said before. I still don’t have a problem with you.

But in this situation, you took the ‘L’...........bro.

RE: Simple fix for homerun replayers

There is no doubt about it: replaying a homerun is douchey. To me, it is akin to all the many unwritten rules in baseball that are meant to keep people from rubbing it in. Replaying a homerun is definitely rubbing it in.

Also, I think replaying home runs on AS is especially douchey, as anyone can hit a homerun with terrible timing and/or PCI placement on AS.

However, I will say that giving us the ability to replay homeruns when we hit them but not replay when we rob one is messed up. If we have one we should have the other.

RE: SDS you really sure reconsider RP stamina

    Agreed wholeheartedly.

Relief pitchers are useless with the way it is structured now. From stamina to confidence and the three batter minimum, the recipe is disastrous. And that’s why we see so many starters out of the pen. You can’t blame the community of players for doing that when using a reliever has cost them so many leads.

    It’s time...

At first I thought all these errors in the outfield were because my team wasn’t stacked and I had guys that could hit, but were bronze fielders or worse.

I just had Mookie Betts, a guy with a 97 fielding rating, miss a routine flyball to right field. And I mean *routine. * It wasn’t smoked to his right or left, and he missed the ball while on a dead sprint. No. It was hit high, and was a can of corn. Error.

I like that fielding attributes matter. But if they matter, and weak fielders make errors, so I upgrade my team for better defenders, and they still make worse errors than the bronze guys, what’s the point?

It’s time to fix this, SDS. I am in a league/chat with a lot of longtime players of this game; guys who have played through a lot of patches and glitches for years. We have never talked about NOT playing this game. Well, we are talking about it now. That’s troubling because I know we aren’t alone.

Fix the fielding. Then the pitching. Make this game playable.

This is ridiculous. It’s dumb. It’s stupid. It needs fixing.

I just played a game where my opponent checked swung on 43 pitches out of the zone (46 total) and only 3 were called strikes. He was the home team and I lost. So this is through 8 innings.

And just about every check swing went to that stupid cut away scene for the appeal.

I was pitching Finest Cole, TN Crochet, and SS Goose. That’s K/9 of 107, 113, and 125 respectively.

    Terrible. This game is unplayable.

    It has to happen...

I was about to make this long old post on how horrendous pitching is. But you know what? We know. They know. No need to give details.

SDS better be focusing on pitching and umpiring for ‘21. That’s how they need to market it as well.

Shippet has always been OP and MLB stadiums have always been frowned upon when playing online. Considering how many people play at shippet I doubt we’ll see any of the minor league stadiums change any time soon if at all.

I think the fact that so many people play at Shippett versus all the other stadiums shows that a change needs to be made.

Or a change needs to be made to the game and other stadiums. The hitting in game is very inconsistent with exit velos. Shippett maximizes the chances of a good/okay center pci hit to go out, which is what skilled hitters want. It’s unbelievably frustrating flying out on perfect pci placement. Why is shippett the only minor league field with a great batter’s eye? Why not make other minor league fields more appealing by giving them better batters eyes?

I don’t know. If I was a top player with the ability to square up pitches consistently (like some people I know), I think I might want to play at big parks that aren’t forgiving. Let the more consistent player win rather than one who gets the most pop ups to carry out for dingers.

@Ikasnu said in Shippett broke The Show this year:

Blame pitching. Shipped has been around for a long time, never been an issue. Its the pitching.

Pitching/umpiring is definitely a huge problem.

But Shippett? Geezus. Especially on AS.

I JUST finished a game there. On AS. Tight game, nothing special. I think I was up 4-3 after six innings.

My opponent scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th.

Then I scored 7 in the top of the 8th.

Then in the bottom of the 9th, he hit back-to-back homeruns to walk it off and win 12-11.

And the funny thing was, we both knew it would happen.

And that game just cemented it for me: I will NEVER play another road game.

It’s not that I don’t want to play on the road, but it’s the only way I can guarantee not playing at Shippett every game. I DO NOT enjoy slugfests.

Shippett on AS is tee-ball with grown men swinging the bats. It’s not enjoyable.

    It’s just stupid.

RE: Shippett broke The Show this year

I applaud your courage posting this. This pitchforks are coming. Lol

But I agree with your ultimate hope, which is that the stadium is removed. As I mentioned in a previous thread, I wouldn’t mind seeing them create 15 new “minor league” stadiums. The same backdrops for every game is getting old, in my opinion.

RE: SDS, I have a solution for backing out of away games in RS

@MarinerMatt01 said in SDS, I have a solution for backing out of away games in RS:

They could just reverse the matchup procedure and it would fix the problem. Select your lineup and pitcher first, then select your stadium, then jump right into a game once you are matched up. No way to tell if you are home or away as no additional input would be needed.

    This is it
