    RE: Please don’t do this

I’ve been using this forum since 17, and without a doubt the post where people were complaining about lefty common pitchers in the event (which is allowed based on the rules) was one of the dumbest complaints I have ever seen.

RE: How do people still pick MLB parks online?

The average player has never visited this forum, doesn’t notice the lag/frame rate issues, and even if they did they probably didn’t connect it to MLB parks. They’re just trying to play a video game.

Then there is another small percentage of players that know about the lag / frame rate and simply don’t care because they want to play in MLB stadiums in an MLB game.

I understand the frustration, but trying to change what away parks you end up in by complaining about it here is equivalent to pissing in the wind.

@zach7153 said in What exactly is considered bunt cheesing?:

I've seen threads complaining about people bunt cheesing but what exactly is considered bunt cheesing? Is it just people that bunt the whole game? Cause I know there are times where I bunt in this game for certain situations it is apart of the game after all

Basically bunting anytime with a speedy player to the right side or bunting to beat the auto shift. Not in a situation that you would bunt

I'm not an advocate for bunting all the time, but if an opponent keeps bunting against the auto shift and you don't turn that auto shift off... you really have no one to blame but yourself. That's no more "cheesy" than the defense shifting based on offensive tendencies so they are more likely to be where the ball is hit.

You can't expect the pros without the cons.

RE: Pause time during Ranked Season Matchups.

This must be a joke, right? I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but is every one of your opponents supposed to adjust their play time to your schedule? If you don't have time to play the game, don't play the game. If we matched up and you were away so long that the timer actually expired, I'm clicking that forfeit button and attempting to match up with someone who won't waste my time.

There was about a 2-3 month period over the summer where I knew I was too sick to make it through a 9 inning game without needing to pause for an extended period of time. Do you know what I did? I stuck to 3-inning game modes where I was more likely to make it through without needing to pause, or I played conquest/moments until I was sure I could actually get through a game without wasting my opponents time, or risking a forfeit.

If SDS actually instituted what you're suggesting, as soon as anyone went down by a run or two they would just pause the game indefinitely and wait for their opponent to quit out of frustration. This idea is so incredibly bad that I am convinced it must be a troll post.

RE: Pout-Quitters: Idea For Dealing w/Them

Assuming that for #3 you are also including the CPU padded stats from after the opponent quit, then #3-5 are some of the worst suggestions I have ever seen brought to the attention of members of this forum.

This is an overly complicated and unnecessary solution to something which barely even qualifies as an issue. The only legitimate complaint regarding opponents quitting mid-game is when it's mid-homerun, which could be even more easily solved by SDS not linking online stats to something like prestige cards, or by them making the stat count the instant contact is made since the game knows what is going to happen.

Plus, with how random the outcome is at times in The Show, it's way better for you when the opponent just throws in the towel. Chances are they would have clawed their way back and made it interesting on some BS anyway.

    RE: Twitter

This is a direct quote from the Playstation Twitter account.

"While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is the time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard."

It's not that the Twitter guy is looting, so he is too busy to tweet. This was a clear directive from higher up to allow the focus of attention on a serious issue. The only negative is that many companies or people in power are jumping on the bandwagon for selfish reasons in order to improve their own image.

I may be a white guy who has cop family members, but I'm not blind. Police brutality is real. People of color are discriminated against. It doesn't take much effort to find dozens of videos of white police officers beating the hell out of peaceful protestors and journalists. Police officers are not above the law and need to be held accountable for their actions. They shouldn't get off with a slap on the wrist and a paid vacation for blatant abuse of power. Change needs to happen. Enough is enough.

I honestly can't believe anyone would have the audacity to whine about a lack of information about a video game because a company is attempting to show solidarity with a downtrodden group of people. It's [censored] embarrassing, and you should all be better than that.

    supply < demand

    exactly how SDS planned it.

I'm pretty sure if SDS actually planned to have a large number of million stub cards, they would at least be cards people would be tempted to spend real money on. You know, like Babe Ruth, who they literally gave away for free. No one is going to spend actual money in January to get stubs to buy Christy Mathewson, who was a quick sell value card in 19.

This situation occurred because of a lack of adequate planning.

    RE: PS5!

I was lucky enough to get one at launch. The Show 20 plays super smooth on it (19 was glitchy and kept crashing on PS5). I actually decided to turn off HDR and changed the settings to faster (1080P) yesterday based on a recommendation from someone on the forum. I played one game, and it looked terrible and I didn't hit any better. Went right back to HDR on and sharper (2160p).

If you enjoy platformers and have any appreciation for Playstation history, don't sleep on Astro's Playroom. It's a free pack-in and it's short which makes it easy to overlook, but it was fantastic. I got the platinum and loved every minute of it. Spider-Man: Miles Morales was also incredible if you enjoyed the first game. I got the ultimate edition, but have not replayed the first game yet.

I saved Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima for PS5 since I was previously using a launch PS4. They may not be PS5 versions, but they looked great on PS5. Once I'm done with the platinum on Ghost, I'll probably pick up Sackboy to play with my wife. Reviews made it sound like Super Mario 3D World which we both enjoyed.

Finest Bellinger and Finest Soto are by far the two best hitters I have used. I went from no stats to prestige Soto in a single event without even really trying.

    RE: Best Players Slumping

@MHHW33 said in Best Players Slumping:

Less people are playing, and those that are still playing are hardcore sweats. The casual player left the game a long time ago. So playing better players only your averages and stats are going to go down.

While this is true, a meatball is a meatball. It doesn't matter who is on the other end of the controller if the ball is right down the middle. I've definitely run into stretches where it seems like each time I square up a pitch that drifted over the middle of the plate with a guy I had previously been dominating with, the result is a series of fly outs and line outs. It happened to me with Mantle. I wasn't really striking out with him much, and the PCI was on the ball pretty consistently with good timing. He just had absolutely no luck and everything was caught.

I'm not saying that anything is necessarily programmed into the game to make that happen, but I've definitely run into extended slumps with some guys for what seems like no reason.

    RE: Ryan Braun price

Bellinger is one of the best cards in the game with great defense at 4 positions. Braun is a bench bat with bad defense at 3 positions with a significant difference in RH/LH splits at a time where players have amazing 99's riding the pine. Sure, he has 125/125 against lefties, but so do other cards. I can't imagine he sees any use in ranked season from anyone outside of a team build.

Unless someone is obsessed with collecting every card (which admittedly has been me in the past) he will be a hard pass for most players. I'm usually all in for events, and I took one look at Braun and Bell and decided to skip the event completely. You could argue that supply will be low due to other players having the same view, but I don't see his value going up until long after 20 is dead and buried and the market is a ghost town.

    RE: Help

RE: Survey for the DD crowd - PS5

I was fortunate enough to get a PS5 on launch day. Back in early November I would have said I would be playing 21 on it on launch day. At this point though, I may skip 21 for a few reasons.

    1. I just got 20 on Black Friday after originally planning to skip it. It runs great on the PS5, and I'm having enough fun with it that I would be okay with playing it on and off until 22 while focusing the bulk of my time on other games. I also got a Series S and GamePass at launch, so I'd like to spend some time with that.

    2. The lack of communication this late into development is not a good sign. They have most likely been working from home due to COVID, and even under normal working conditions SDS would have likely been spread thinner than usual due to development on new platforms. It is unlikely we see any drastic improvements this year, so as an every other year player it makes more sense to wait for 22. Unless they announce something that blows me out of the water, I may just keep tabs on how people are liking it through the forum.

This event is perfect. After grinding out 50+ wins in the East event the past couple of days just to get a shot at Goose Gossage (I ended up with Robb Nen and a hatred for Fenway...) now I can not play The Show for a while and finish Ghost of Tsushima. Thanks SDS.

@Luckygiodom said in Just put million dollar cards for sale:

Why can’t they just put these cards for sale and let us spend the stubs we have since new game will be out shortly. I really don’t want to spend a million on rituals and ankle bracelets

I'll start by saying I'm either not good enough(most likely) or not patient enough to go 12-0 or make World Series. Obviously 12-0 is harder than WS, but those cards are REWARDS that someone achieved. Just putting them up for anyone who wants to buy one wouldn't be fair to them and their accomplishment. I was fortunate enough to pick up SOME of the cards this year off the market since the person who earned it decided to sell. There's cards I would have like to add to my inventory that I won't be able to because of the long queues, but there were cards I was able to secure just the same. There's a few cards you might be able to secure, it's up to you whether they are someone you want. Good Luck to you, I hope you can get at least one of your buy orders filled, but I do not feel SDS should just put them up for a million each. Perhaps being able to have either a BR rewind pack or WS rewind pack(limited to 1/person total not each) could be an event reward so it wouldn't completely tank the market for the people who actually earned them is a possibility.

I understand where you are coming from with this reasoning, but let's face it the only time WS players are taking anyone but Mays is if they don't have the card and want to keep it. As for BR rewards, only Chipper and Wagner sell more than like 10 times a month. The older WS rewards need to be moved to CS(there is absolutely no excuse for that guy having to pay a million to get Juan freaking Pierre yesterday), and the non-99 BR rewards need to be 9 wins with only Chipper/Wagner being 12-0, the rest 12 wins. It would give a lot more reason for people to play BR this late in the year too

This is basically what I was in the process of typing when I saw it pop in. I completely agree, and I will add that rewind packs could be expanded upon to help with supply of super rare cards too. I think this is the first year they have done something like that, which I appreciate.
