Stadiums That YOU Want to be Added Next Year (Hey, SDS!)

I must admit that I've been rather disappointed with the selection of classic stadiums over recent games, which aside from one or two additions (Humphrey Metrodome), has been more or less the same set.

I've been dying to see Tiger Stadium, the hallowed field at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull, added to the game as a classic stadium. It amazes me that it hasn't yet. Tigers fan or not, you can't deny how iconic it was. C'mon, SDS!

I also think they need to work on minor league stadiums... need to add ones like BB&T Park, where the Charlotte Knights play, and include the Charlotte skyline in the background, that'd be nice.

So since we still haven't gotten a custom park feature, what stadium do you want added in next year's game? Classic or otherwise?

RE: What does pitcher confidence do?

Pitcher confidence usually determines how well a pitcher performs. It does help with accuracy, but it also helps with pitch effectiveness and how difficult it is to get strikeouts or induce other types of outs. The higher your confidence, the more strikes and strikeouts you can get, and the less hits and walks you allow. It affects the pitcher more than the hitter, but it does affect how easy/hard it is for the batter to hit against you. Thus, it affects how well you perform against a pitcher when you're batting—it's why that if you swing at literally everything he throws at you, it's going to be very difficult to get a hit.

Pitcher confidence increases in varied degrees by doing the following— Getting strikes, causing swings and misses, getting strikeouts, and getting outs in general. Also, when a batter fouls off a pitch, it counts as a strike, so it also raises confidence. Confidence increases more if the batter swings at a pitch that's out of the zone for a strike, for example (basically, the more you stupid you make the batter look, the more your confidence goes up).

Pitch confidence decreases due to the following—The batter takes a pitch for a ball, if you allow a hit of any kind (and the greater the hit, the more confidence you lose—allowing a HR causes more confidence to be lost than allowing a single), if errors of any kind are allowed, allowing a runner to score, hitting a batter, walking a batter, throwing wild pitches, or throwing passed balls. Stolen bases might affect confidence, but I haven't payed enough attention to be sure. Basically, if things hit the fan, pitcher confidence goes down the drain.

Another important note—confidence not only affects overall performance, but it also affects performance with each pitch in your pitcher's repertoire. For example, if you get a strikeout with a nasty curveball, your pitcher is going to be more confident in using that pitch. That, in turn, increases the pitch's speed, accuracy, and break. If you throw the curveball and the batter hits it for a HR, then you are going to lose confidence with that pitch and will have trouble throwing it accurately and for strikes.

PSA—Please Sell Your Extra AJ Ramos!

For those who aren't in the loop, there are no sell orders for Rockies RP AJ Ramos. For those of us trying to complete the Live Series collection, this is a major issue. There are other players like Ramos who have no sell orders, either, so help us all out and sell those too.

Basically the three players you should sell are:

    • AJ Ramos (Rockies)
    • Daniel Bard (Rockies)
    • Elliot Soto (Angels)
    • Paolo Espino (Nationals)

Please do not exchange or quick sell your spare AJ Ramos, Soto, or Espino. Sell him to us for 1000 stubs on the market! We greatly appreciate it!

Good PCI placement and good swings mean nothing in this game. I find myself losing games to people who swing early(yellow) to pitches down and away and still hit the ball out of the park but I get perfect/perfect and fly out to the warning track or ground out to the SS. This is beyond frustrating

Please watch this, because i share your frustation
    https://youtu.be/PfFmuEM68rA

And that right there is why I never picked up this year's game. Who wants a game that's based off of RNG and not skill... makes no sense. Saved myself a lot of brain cells by sticking with MLB 19 and not getting MLB 20.

Yet Another Unhandled Server Exception has Occurred!

I just got a new node, so I have screaming internet now. No complaints until just now, when I was in the middle of taking spaces on a conquest map.

Boom! Just as I was about to start a game to conquer the last stronghold, an unhandled server exception occurs. Don't tell me this is the same garbage as what we had to deal with on election night.

It kicked me out of DD and it won't let me back in. Is this happening to anyone else?

EDIT: I just checked PSN and down detector, and PlayStation's services are all in the green. This is on SDS. @Collin_SDS @Victor_SDS, what is the reason for this outage?

EDIT: Everything is now back up for me. But seriously, this stuff has to stop.

Update: MLB has suspended the Asterisk's hitting coach for 20 games. They also suspended Laureano for 6 games, but Laureano is appealing his suspension.

I hope they grant his appeal.

    Miguel Cabrera is Disappointing

As a Tigers fan I am outraged. I finally managed to get him through the player program, but he is a complete letdown so far. It's been several at-bats and he is nowhere near getting a hit.

This is bull [censored]. What am I doing wrong, or did they really screw things up with this card?

Just when I thought this year couldn't get any worse, here 2020 goes again. RIP Eddie Van Halen.

Did you know that the band worked on the music for 1996's Twister? Listen to the original soundtrack sometime, the guitar work in it is gorgeous.

Fielding is a joke. It was improved when the game dropped. Just like last year. Then they go and tweak things and everything goes to [censored]. Shortstops run in on balls to their left. 3rd basemen too. Centerfielders with diamond fielding break the wrong way or dont move at the crack of the bat to ensure doubles. You get control of the wrong fielder on fly balls when it clearly should be the centerfielder ball. Or you get control of the centerfielder on a ball that should be the ss or 2nd baseman's play. but you hit dive because you know its within 3 feet of them only to see the centerfielder belly flop to give up a double. Content has been great this year minus a bunch of cards everyone wants being a million stubs a piece. Gameplay took a big dump this year.

Nothing like the first month of having the ball hit your infielder directly in the forehead and landing for a single on a pop up.

I didnt say it was perfect. But outfielder urgency and better outfield animations was more prevalent at launch.

Just how can they have messed up the animations from post-launch patches. The game is supposed to be more broken shortly after launch, not at the end of the cycle.

you would think but it never actually works out that way. Some of the bugs get worked out. Outfielders not locking on to balls and some other stuff (mostly). But somehow the other things that worked well at launch get dumbed down.

Maybe this next year (if they even decide to release a game, they haven't said zip) they should experiment and just do no patches. Just to see if it makes a difference compared to this year.

I wouldn't trust the randomly generated lineups for [censored]. That thinks that Sandberg is the best card in the game

I have tons of trust issues with that thing, lol. I have a "test" squad with which I occasionally ask the game what it thinks would be the best lineup.

Let's just say I'm usually never impressed. This thing thinks that power is more important than contact, speed, or fielding. It won't put a single diamond-level fielder in the outfield. "Trout? Nah. Walker? Nah! Just put Sheffield and Soto out there. Becuz POWER." 🙄

What is it With Postseason Travis d'Arnaud?

There has got to be a love affair going on between PS d'Arnaud and the game. His stats look great, don't get me wrong, but he's not the best catcher defensively and his bat is especially lacking for me.

The game puts d'Arnaud at C every time I have the game generate a lineup. The game insists that I use him, even though I haven't had much success with him (his bat is more prone to singles than anything else, which isn't great when he has no steal or BR aggro at all), hence the aforementioned "love affair".

It could be that there very few good catchers in the game that aren't unaffordable (I'm looking at you, Johnny Bench, Gary Carter, and Mike Piazza, with a Buy Now of 0 and Sell Now of 1,000,000. Three of the greatest catchers in all of baseball history, and we can't flipping use them. Shameful). So that's another thing SDS dropped the ball on (pun not intended)—a decent amount of catchers that aren't earned through online play.

I just struck out with him just now, lol, so I don't know why the game considers him to be a Catcher god. I try my best with him at the plate, but he either gets singles or nothing at all. And this is against right-handers! Not left!

Either he's secretly bad or I'm losing my mind. Both seem plausible at this point 🤣

RE: Why do people believe 21 will not be released on time?

@eatyum said in Why do people believe 21 will not be released on time?:

Solely based on the fact that we've never gone this late without news, combine that with the impact of Covid-19, and it's a very plausible idea that it could be delayed.

It wouldn't surprise me if it had something to do with covid, mainly California's coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions. While this is the digital age, something tells me that it's not easy to develop a game remotely. Patches and updates, yes, but not sure about a full game.

I've heard that so many businesses are closed that it's hard to find a bathroom in San Francisco that isn't a porta-John. So it's quite plausible.

But I do find the lack of news, even leaks, very strange. Usually the cover player is announced in late December or so.

Didn't They Say They Improved OF Fielding?

Because I haven't really seen it. Instead, I've seen CPU outfielders (and occasionally, infielders) glitching when they dive for a ball and moonwalking to catch lineouts.

Just now, with Postseason Travis d'Arnaud, I hit a line drive that looked to be past Jason Heyward and to his right. As he runs for it, he makes this quick and artificial (as in, not human) zigzag running pattern, seemingly moonwalking for a brief moment, and he miraculously catches the line drive. And he moonwalked a good ways.

So is this the game correcting the outfielders? If Heyward hadn't moonwalked several feet to his right, it would have been a base hit.

This is not exclusive to CPU players. After I threw a ball home to Joe Torre, Torre extended his arm to catch it. It landed square in the middle of glove, but the moment the ball made contact with the glove, Torre magically glitches to his right and the ball falls on the ground. The scorer did not label this as an error.

I also have a strange problem with balls that make a turn in the air (you can see the angle it makes if you have the ball trail on), literally changing direction to land in the glove of an awaiting outfielder. It makes no sense, and I'm tired of all these inhuman occurrences.

Tell me this won't happen in MLB 21... whenever that is announced.
